Florence C. (nee Sofka) Blume "Cookie" of Clark, N.J. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 30, 2026 at the age of 80. She was born in Newark, NJ on December 23, 1945 to James and Florence (nee Sagendorf) Sofka. Florence was reunited with her parents and her late son, Christopher Blume.

Florence is the former wife of Thomas N. Blume; mother of her son Thomas R. Blume and her daughter Melissa Blume & her husband Fernando Casacuberta; sister of the late James Sofka; and grandmother of Natalia Blume and Christian Blume.

Florence spent most of her life in Irvington and Union prior to moving to Clark in 2017. She was awarded a Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. She devoted her career for 30 years as a caring and compassionate Social Worker with the State of N.J. Commission for the Blind in the Newark office prior to her retirement. Florence became an advocate for the rights of the blind through the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey. Florence was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Union for many years and member of the Keenagers Senior Group. She loved to bake cookies and was known by all as "Cookie".

The most powerful part throughout Cookie's life that gave her much independence were her Seeing-Eye dogs Ronnie, Sienna, and Starr.

Visitation will be held at the Ron Mowad Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J. (Located in the Galante Funeral Home building) on Monday July 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday July 7th from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Andy Imbimbo officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Memorial Park, 77 DeForest Avenue, East Hanover, N.J.
