Maria Marx of Maplewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 14, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born in Hungary on September 5, 1929 to the late Jovsef & Anna (nee Vadasz) Dancsecs.

Maria was the wife of the late John Marx, who passed away on October 13, 1997. She had settled in the United States over 40 years and had been a resident of Maplewood for over 30 years.

Maria worked for the Revlon Company for many years. She had an intense love for gardening. She trended one of the most beautiful gardens and planted all variety of flowers along with potatoes, onions and other herbs. Over the years, Maria would ensure that the children in the neighborhood would have hand made cookies and sweet treats for their birthday parties! These were the best kind; native to her country of Hungary and her mother’s recipe.

She also enjoyed travelling with her son, Zoltan (known as ‘Zolie’ also deceased) to the Amish countryside on selected weekends to purchase honey and eggs. We miss her and pray that her soul will rest in peace.

A gathering will be held for those who choose to pay their final respects and extend their personal tribute to Maria on Tuesday August 19th 10:00 am at the Ron Mowad Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 908-687-1182, (located in the Galante Funeral Home Building), 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A brief prayer service will be held.

Burial will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ. Maria will be laid to rest with her late husband, John Marx.
