Our lives were forever changed on August 31st, 2022, when he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his final resting place. business and by the age of 14 he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and became a truck driver and

Robert was educated in the East Orange School system. Robert was influenced by his late father who was in the moving eventually took over the family business with his brother, Barry. For the next 60 years, Robert was in the business of moving others and touching the lives of those he came into contact with.

In 1968 Robert married Pamela T. Smith Cook, and out of that union, they had Robert B. Cook and Towan B. Cook. Although the union did not last he enjoyed being a young father and caring for his children who meant the world to him. Robert enjoyed being on the road and especially traveling with his two sons as they were growing up.

Robert loved watching Western movies, listening to music, cooking, and collecting Hess trucks. He especially enjoyed bowling, which is where he met Mamie. Robert and Mamie became friends. He wanted to spend more time with her, and he eventually was able to get on the same bowling team as her and the rest is history.

Robert and Mamie were members of Calvary Gospel Church for over 15 years. It was here under the teaching of Pastor Grover Wilcox that he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Pastor Wilcox counseled Mamie and Robert and after some time, in 1981 Robert Married Mamie. Although he told her that he did not want to have any more children because he was always worried about the safety of his two sons, a year after they were married, they welcomed triplets (Donna, Christina, & Walter) into the world.

As time went on Robert and Mamie had Kimberly and Brittany and Robert felt complete with his beautiful, blended family.

Robert was a hard worker and loved what he did. He enjoyed moving friends, families, and even strangers and especially loved to be on the road to do a long-distance move. He loved moving others and being on the road. However, even more than that, he loved coming home to his family.

In 1998 Robert and his family started to attend Crossroads Christian Fellowship (formerly Clinton Hill Baptist Church) where under the teachings of Pastor Tom his relationship with the Lord deepened. Robert enjoyed going to church every Sunday and he especially loved serving in the First Cup Ministry each month. He became a familiar face in Pinho’s bakery where he would always pick up sweet things for his fellow church members, and he especially loved picking up the Bob Malkamus Cake, which is what he named his friend's favorite Danish that he always made sure he had on hand.

In 2021 Robert suffered from another stroke that left him unable to do one of his favorite things, drive. While he was confused during this time he was surrounded by his family, church family, and several kind friends that never left his side.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of nearly 41 years Mamie Cook, as well as his best friend and brother Barry Cook (Barbara), his seven children; Robbie Cook (Jamar), Towan Cook (Yolanda), Donna Ballenger (Shad), Christina Cook (Terrance), Walter Cook (Annabel), Kimberly Phillips (Ken), Brittany Cook, his step-son Quami Cook, his eight grandchildren Alexsis (Alton), Towan Jr.,(Laura) Christian, Sean, Laila, Izabella, Alyssa and Olivia, his step-grand-son Quran, and his great-grand-children, Madison, Nicolas, and Noah.
