Obituary for Romualdo I. "Romy" Galano

Romualdo ‘Romy’ I. Galano, a long-time resident of Union, New Jersey entered eternal life on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 73.

Romy was born in Pangasinan, Philippines on March 26, 1948 to the late Rosalina (nee Intengan) & Ricardo Galano, Sr. Romy graduated from Letran College, Philippines in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

For over 30 years Romy was a real estate sales associate with Weichert Realtors in the various offices in Union County. He retired in 2019. Romy was a member of the N.J. Realtor’s Association, the National Association of Realtors, as well as very active in several ministries at Holy Spirit Church, Union.

Being a great dad and grandfather brought much joy to Romy. He loved to cook for his family and many friends. His sense of humor was contagious to everyone Romy encountered, always supporting and encouraging all of his family and friends in their endeavors.

Romy was the beloved husband for 50 years to Cora (nee Purisima) Galano; devoted father of Fred Galano & his wife Tiffany and Regina Bowler & her husband Geoff; cherished grandchildren Sam Galano, Sean Bowler, and Adam Galano; dear brother of Ricardo Galano, Jr., Robert Galano, Saturnina Malong, Rolando Galano, Renato Galano, Raul Galano, the late Rogelio Galano, and their spouses.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ron Mowad Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 2800 Morris Ave, Union (Located in the Galante Funeral Home building.) There will not be viewing on Sunday.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 970 Suburban Road, (corner of Morris Avenue) Union. For those attending the funeral please gather at the church by 10:15 a.m. Cremation will be private. Interment location of cremated remains will be announced later.
