A celebration of Michael’s life and Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Gertrude’s Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, N.J.

Mike was a Project Manager, who was passionate with work, designing several retails stores around the country. He had been with the J & J Service Solutions Company based in Lancaster, PA for the past 5 years.

Michael was the beloved husband, for 39 years, to Nancy (nee Masterson) Vence; devoted father of Kristin J. Vence, Kelly A. Martins & her husband Hugo, and Michael C. Vence, II; cherished “Papa,” (grandfather) of Maximus Michael Martins; loving son of Arlene (nee Howard) Vence & the late Richard Vence; caring son-in-law of Nancy (nee Italiano) Masterson & the late James Masterson; dear brother of Richard Vence, Thomas Vence, Jacqueline Wood, and his brother-in-law James Masterson, all of their spouses, many nieces, nephews and great nieces/great nephews.

Mike loved attending rock concerts, especially Poison, Van Halen and Bruce Springsteen and he had a love for sports including the Yankees and Jets. Spending time at the Jersey Shore with his family was also a favorite pastime, however his greatest love of all was spending every second he could with his grandson, Maximus. They had a bond like no one else, whenever Papa and Max were together, it was like no one else was in the room. They will forever be best friends.

While Mike was hardworking and took his job very seriously, he was also one of the funniest people around. He was constantly telling jokes and making everyone around him laugh until their stomachs hurt. Mike was very casual - a “jeans and t-shirt kind of guy,” and he hated suits, so we ask in lieu of “dressing up,” please feel free to wear casual and relaxed attire.

He was full of life, love and laughter and he will be missed more than he knows.
